I would like to begin by thanking Ms. Mohassib, Ms. Tobias, Ms. Dougherty, Ms. Pappalardo and Ms. Cardazone for all the work they did to ensure we held successful Student Government elections. Thank you to our teachers as well for their cooperation. Congratulations to our new 6th Grade Secretary, 7th Grade Vice President, and 8th Grade Student Body President. The speeches were well prepared, and voting went off without a hitch. It’s great to see the democratic process reflected in our school community. Stay tuned for our upcoming S.G.O. sponsored events.

Congratulations to Ms. Rubin on being selected as the new Arts Office Lead for dance teachers in Brooklyn South! She will be serving as a lead model teacher, collaborating with other dance teachers in Brooklyn South, as well as serving as part of the Deputy Chancellor’s Team. This is a true testament to her dedication and passion for dance education, and we know she will bring incredible energy and insight to the role. We are so very proud of her accomplishments – I always said that her shows belong on Broadway, and now the District has recognized.

Some classroom highlights...Mr. Gulino and Ms. Travis attended “Trout in the Classroom” and have about 125 brown trout eggs in Room 323 and Room 108, which should hatch within the next two weeks. Mr. Cam and Ms. Balacich's 6th grade students explored the flow of energy by collaborating to assemble a circuit and write an explanation about their observations.

We held our first round of attendance awards. Students who had 100% attendance for the month of September were eligible to win gift cards – one student from each grade was selected lottery style. We will continue this celebration each month to encourage perfect attendance among our students.

Please be reminded that this month's PTA meeting will be held virtually today, October 15th at 5:00pm. Ms. Wiederhold will also be hosting our Town Hall Safety Meeting at that time.

Please note that this Friday, October 18th, our school will be observing "Wear It Pink" day in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This is a dress down day and we encourage all staff and students to wear pink that day to raise awareness.
